With over 8 years of training experience, including 3.5 years dedicated to powerlifting, I’m Nicolas De Roover, a powerlifting coach who understands the meaning of perseverance. My personal journey has seen my total grow from 400kg to 620kg, including strategic weight manipulations between the -83kg, -93kg, and -105kg categories. This progress, along with the best lifts of 215kg squat, 160kg bench press, and 245kg deadlift, reflects my commitment to excellence and adaptability.
To me, powerlifting is about more than just numbers. I take a holistic approach, combining analytical skills with empathy to support my athletes as individuals with unique challenges and ambitions. With a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and experience in medical IT, I bring a strong scientific foundation to my coaching, ensuring that every aspect of training is evidence-based and tailored to each athlete’s needs.
My coaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that consistency and hard work are the keys to success. My motto, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” drives my approach to helping athletes grow in performance and as individuals. Whether it’s achieving personal records, preparing for competition, or building long-term progress, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

What's included in the coaching?
Your coaching journey begins with an intake session. During this session, we get to know you, your fitness history, and your specific goals to pair you with the most suitable coach. The coaching program is designed to provide comprehensive support tailored to your needs:
- Personalized Weekly Programming: Your coach provides you with a training plan customized to your goals and personal progress, updated weekly.
- Unlimited Contact: Stay connected with your coach to ask questions, share videos, and receive feedback whenever needed.
At Team Hype, our mission is to ensure you have all the tools, support, and guidance to achieve your goals effectively.
Can I choose my coach?
Yes, as long as the coach has a spot available at the time. We always strive to match you with the coach who best aligns with your goals, availability, and personality.
What if I have never tried powerlifting before?
No problem at all! Powerlifting is for everyone, whether you’re completely new to the sport or have prior training experience. Our coaches will guide you step by step, ensuring you learn the proper techniques and build a strong foundation. With personalized programming and expert support, you’ll be set up for success and ready to make incredible progress.
Do I have to compete to join Team Hype?
No, not at all! Many of our athletes pursue powerlifting to challenge themselves and improve their strength without the goal of competing. We’re here to coach and support everyone, whether you’re training for personal growth or preparing for competition.
I have an injury, can I still do powerlifting?
Yes! Our coaches will do their best to work around your injury and help you heal as quickly as possible. We’ll adjust your program to ensure you can continue training safely while focusing on recovery. Your progress and well-being are our top priorities.
How do I communicate with my coach?
Depending on the coach, you’ll be able to communicate through Instagram or WhatsApp. Additionally, we have two community group chats, one on Discord and one on Instagram, where you can ask questions and get answers in a fraction of a minute. This ensures you’re always supported, whether it’s sharing training videos for feedback, seeking advice, or staying connected with the Team Hype community.
Do you offer nutrition guidance or meal plans?
We provide basic nutrition advice to help you adjust to your current eating habits and ensure they align with your training and performance goals.
For those seeking a more in-depth approach, we offer access to a dedicated nutrition coach at an additional cost. They can create a personalized meal plan tailored to your specific goals and needs, complete with weekly check-ins to monitor progress and make adjustments.
